We support over 400 member companies to ensure increasing amounts of renewable electricity are deployed across the UK and to access export markets all over the world. ROLE OVERVIEW:

Working within a small dynamic team, the Head of Marketing is to work with the Director of Events, Head of Events, Head of Business Development to maximise revenue and member engagement from our event programme and annual subscriptions.

The Head of Marketing will develop effective commercial marketing campaigns for events, our membership offer and other income streams – JobFinder (online job board) and our Project Intelligence service.

The postholder play a central role across the organisation supporting the membership, communication and policy teams and will be expected to use your expertise and outside perspective to lead a small project team to review how we manage and deliver our marketing and communications, making recommendations to senior management after a 3 month review.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic event marketing

  • Generate creative marketing campaigns to maximise attendance/income for all types of event supporters – sponsors, exhibitors, delegates.
  • Project manage event marketing production schedules to ensure timely and effective messaging across all platforms – emails, website, social media and other channels.
  • Track and report on each campaign’s effectiveness.
  • Manage content on the event website - consistently update with programme, promotions, news and other relevant event information.
  • Develop and account manage media partnerships.
  • Manage the event photography and filming schedules.

Membership Recruitment and Retention Marketing Campaigns

  • Develop new and manage existing membership recruitment and member retention campaigns – including key benefits of our Project Intelligence Platform and JobFinder product.
  • Campaign management – manage, track and report of successes and areas of concern.
  • Develop a close working relationship with the communication team colleagues to manage effective campaigns on social media and other channels.

RenewableUK as a brand

  • Manage existing brand assets and advise colleagues and supporters on best practice of use of the RenewableUK logo, palette and layouts.
  • Lead internal project team to review organisation’s approach to marketing and communications and make recommendations after 3 month review

PERSON SPECIFICATION

CRITERIA REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE:

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Comprehensive knowledge of social media tools and channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, etc) - Essential
  • Ability to comprehend and simplify technical information - Essential
  • Strong writing and analytical skills - Essential
  • Interest in environment, energy issues and renewable energy - Desirable
  • Trained in Adobe Creative Cloud/similar - Desirable

EXPERIENCE

  • Marketing strategy development, budget management and managing relationships with senior staff - Essential
  • Knowledge of working in a multi-channel environment and of leading, managing and implementing creative development across a variety of audiences and for a variety of customers - Essential
  • Brand management and/or CRM experience - Desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence, persuade and use diplomacy/tact - Essential
  • Broad marketing and communications expertise, ideally in marketing services - Essential
  • Knowledge of adobe design suite - Essential
  • Relevant and up to date knowledge of marketing developments and best practice including digital experience - Desirable
  • Managing and building strong strategic relationships with creative/ media agencies including negotiating contracts - Essential
  • Budget setting and management, project management, people and resource management - Essential
  • The ability to work as part of a multi-functional team is essential - Essential
