Member Engagement Officer

              

POSITION:          Member Engagement Officer

EMPLOYER:        RenewableUK Association Limited

LOCATION:          Hybrid/London HQ

BACKGROUND:  RenewableUK’s members are building our future energy system, powered by clean electricity. We bring them together to deliver that future faster; a future which is better for industry, billpayers and the environment.

We support 470 member companies to ensure increasing amounts of renewable electricity are deployed across the UK and to access export markets all over the world. Our members are business leaders, technology innovators, and expert thinkers from right across industry.

ROLE OVERVIEW: RenewableUK is largely supported by two key income streams: corporate membership fees and its major annual events.

Reporting to the Head of Membership, the post-holder will support RenewableUK’s member engagement across all areas of our activities. This will include; events (where appropriate), supporting the department’s digital strategy and integration of strategy and membership business processes. This is an exciting time at RenewableUK as we continue to implement the 5-year strategy for the Association, a strategy underpinned by further growth. This role is perfect for someone looking to start their career within the renewables sector. Full training will be given for the right candidate to develop their skills in a role which is multi-faceted and requires a creative thinker and problem solver.

Specifically, the role will be responsible for:

·        Supporting the processes pertinent to member engagement, onboarding and membership account management including data inputting on the CRM

·        Coordinating our efforts relating to key account management by RenewableUK’s senior team

·        Coordinating the Association’s series of ‘Connect’ business to business networking events and member site visits

·        Attending annual events and managing business relationships onsite

·        Supporting the Head of Business Development of RenewableUK in the management of ongoing commercial and stakeholder Memorandum of Understanding including with other trade associations

DETAILED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:          

Member Engagement and Support: 65% of the role

·        Co-ordinate all pertinent business processes relating to membership, including (but not limited to): using systems to process applications and subscriptions, benefits fulfilment, finances and renewals

·        Using systems to assist manage our relationship with members, through inputting and outputting data, and analysing data to maximise opportunities 

·        Maintain, check, and expand member database and key contact information.

·        Processing members enquiries through all pertinent systems, working with colleagues as appropriate to respond

·        Researching existing members to identify opportunities to leverage relationships

·        Manage the membership calendar, schedule, meetings, and communications across the RUK team (working with the Head of Membership)

Commercial Activities support: 20% of the role

·        Co-ordination of B2B events (Connects) throughout the year and the UK

·        Co-ordination of Member site visits throughout the year and the UK

·        When required, researching prospective members to support business development, working with the Business Development team

·        Procure and collate member information to support marketing across all channels

MOU Coordination: 15% of the role

·        Supporting the Head of Business Development on MOU management

This list of duties is not exhaustive and may be added to from time to time. Training will be provided as required.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

·        Excellent administration and organisational skills

·        Experience of using CRM systems (Desirable)

·        Experience of using membership apps and other digital tools for engagement (Desirable)

·        Excellent customer services skills and confidence with digital, remote as well as face-to-face communications

·        Excellent engagement and networking skills

·        Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools particularly Outlook, Access, Excel & Word

·        Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal

·        Experience of working in a matrix-type organisation (Desirable)   

·        Educated to Graduate Level or demonstrate equivalent professional development (Desirable)

·        Knowledge of the renewable energy sector (Desirable)

PERSONAL QUALITIES

·        Ability to work effectively under pressure

·        Aptitude for social media and all things digital

·        Proven listening, negotiating and influencing skills (Desirable)

·        Attention to detail          

·        Ability to self-manage and work effectively as a member of a team

·        Professional attitude and ability to represent the organisation to wider industry, including senior industry figures

·        Organised with good logistics skills (Desirable)

·        Ability to take responsibility, use initiative to prioritise and work effectively to tight deadlines

·        Keenness to work on own professional development

·        Personal and professional commitment to sustainability

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

·        Willingness to travel – this role will require some travel across the UK
