£35,000 -£40,000 depending on experience

The industry is experiencing an exciting period of change and growth, with an ambitious target to triple capacity to 70GWof solar and storage by 2035.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The HR Advisor role is a central and varied hands on role for RenewableUK and Solar Energy’s team members totalling 90+ colleagues who are largely based in our combined central London office as well as in our Northern Ireland and Wales hubs and our various associates and partners based all over the UK, including team members working from home.
The role is pivotal in delivering a welcoming, safe and smooth running working environment, leading on day to day HR requirements and taking ownership of a range of people and culture projects.
1. Support the Head of HR and Governance with activities relating to our People Strategy, liaising with our outsourced HR Consultant, as needed. Activities will include raising awareness and the ongoing communication of company policies and procedures and keeping the company culture handbook and policies up to date and in line with current legislation.
2. Support all managers with recruitment activities including posting adverts, liaison with agencies, responding to candidates, right to work checks, interviews, offers and references ensuring good practice throughout and alignment with our EDI policy.
3. Manage the effective onboarding / induction of new joiners in conjunction with the line manager ensuring all new joiners feel welcomed and engaged with the organisation. Ensure workstation set-ups, DSE assessments, and organisation wide policies are shared, read and signed where needed.
4. Ownership of the learning and development of all staff, working with line managers to ensure that development plans are in place and actions followed up.
5. Ensure the robust case management of all performance (capability, conduct or attendance) issues, providing guidance and support to line managers to ensure that matters are dealt with promptly, properly and professionally.
6. Oversee the maintenance of the HR system, ensuring all types of absence is recorded, liaising with managers and team members to keep the HR system up to date, logging medical certificates and adhering to current data protection regulations.
7. Develop insightful HR management reports for the senior management team, utilising data from the HR system and other sources and create and maintain live trackers with Head of HR and Governance. Ensure the HR department remains compliant with ISO requirements.
8. Complete actions in accordance with the company’s offboarding process, including exit interviews, liaising with the relevant line manager, IT Contractor and Finance Department.
9. Support the Head of HR and Governance with projects and new policies, processes or initiatives in support of continual improvement to both organisations cultures and ways of working.
10. Support Head of HR and Governance with all necessary Board matters, including onboarding board members and ensure communication is made in a timely and professional manner.
11. Support the Head of HR and Governance with payroll and benefits matters, providing accurate data and keeping the benefits portal up to date.
12. Managing the Company’s Health and Safety procedures and working with the COO to ensure compliance. Updating staff through ‘townhall’ meetings and via presentations.
13. Owning our ‘Pulse Surveys’ and utilising the data to improve staff engagement and the continual improvement to the organisation’s cultures.

This is a broad, busy and visible role in which you will need to provide a professional guidance and support service to the business. The role requires a pro-active, motivated and flexible individual with exceptional multi-tasking ability as the demands on the role will vary from time to time – a willingness to roll up your sleeves is key!
The HR Advisor will establish good working relationships across both RenewableUK and Solar Energy UK and is expected to work across the teams to ensure the effective running of the HR function. The job holder will require strong interpersonal skills and the ability to take responsibility for managing and resolving enquiries.
The work is often confidential and with some tight deadlines, however you will need to be accurate and demonstrate excellent organisation, attention to detail and time management skills.
The ideal candidate will be graduate calibre and hold a relevant HR qualification.
The role requires prior experience in coordinating company-wide HR projects and delivering to deadlines. You will have excellent IT skills, alongside strong planning, interpersonal and organisational skills and an ability to manage personal data sensitively. We are looking for a problem solver, who can work autonomously, without requiring close supervision.
The job holder also requires:
a strong track record of achievement in similar HR roles for small to medium sized organisations
experience of facilitating and delivering successful organisation and cultural change would be an advantage
sound knowledge of UK wide employment law and best practice
experience in learning and development
proven experience of utilising HR systems to improve the employee experience and provide insightful management reports.
